LineProducing.com
KeyPA is launching a new article series dedicated to highlighting great resources. This one is for all you aspiring producers out there. Lineproducing.com was created by Stephen Marinaccio, a DGA UPM who’s also in the PGA (unfamiliar with that term, check out his site). If you take a peek at his resume or IMDB link, you’ll see he knows his stuff.
“LineProducing.com was born out of a desire to share information. Everything about this website is angled towards open communication and helping others do the best job they can. It took me a long time to get where I am today, and I return the favor of those who showed me the way, by sharing what I know with you.”
On top of being a successful and talented guy, he’s also generous. Access to this site is 100% free, although you do have to sign up.
“I make no money from this site. Everything is free to you. Crew and Vendors which I highlight on this site are done at my preference only. I reserve the right to include or exclude anything I see fit. I am a little drunk with that power. [insert maniacal laugh] I will never sell your registration information (that’s silly). I do this site on my own time and offer it’s contents to you as is, and with hopes that you learn a bit from it.”
Inside you’ll find great introductory info including: Terminology, Role of the LP & UPM, Tools of the Trade, & Guilds. Stephen also goes in the great detail laying out script structure, scheduling and budgeting.
If you have any interest in Production Management or Producing in the big leagues, this is the site for you. Definitely read this over and start applying these principles to projects you’re working on. Even if it’s a simple zero-budget production. Just as you see DPs out there shooting to keep their skills sharp, aspiring producers should be the same way.
